Getting Started with InstaSkript
Welcome to InstaSkript! This beginner's guide will walk you through the process of transcribing your first video or audio file using our powerful transcription service.
Step 1: Choose Your Input Method
InstaSkript offers two ways to transcribe content:
- URL Input: Paste a direct link to a video from YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, or Facebook
- File Upload: Upload audio or video files directly from your device
For this tutorial, we'll focus on the file upload option, but the process is similar for URL inputs.
Step 2: Upload Your File
Click on the upload area or drag and drop your file into the designated zone. InstaSkript supports a variety of formats:
- Audio formats: MP3, WAV, M4A
- Video formats: MP4, AVI, MKV
Note that the free version allows files up to 10 minutes in length and 100MB in size.
Pro Tip
For the best results, upload content with clear audio and minimal background noise. If your file is larger than 100MB, consider compressing it before uploading.
Step 3: Start Transcription
Once your file is uploaded, click the "Start Transcription" button. The system will begin processing your content. You'll see a progress indicator showing the current status.
The transcription time depends on the length of your content, but most files are processed within minutes.
Step 4: Review and Download
After processing completes, you'll see your transcription displayed on the screen. From here, you can:
- Review the text for accuracy
- Toggle timestamps on or off
- Copy the text to your clipboard
- Download as SRT (subtitle file format)
- Download as TXT (plain text format)
Step 5: Using Your Transcription
Now that you have your transcription, here are some ways to use it:
- SRT files can be uploaded directly to social media platforms to add subtitles
- TXT files can be used for content repurposing, like creating blog posts
- Copy and paste the text into your content management system or video editor
Troubleshooting Common Issues
If you encounter any problems during the transcription process:
- File format not supported: Convert your file to one of our supported formats
- File too large: Trim or compress your file to meet our size limits
- Poor transcription quality: Ensure your audio is clear and has minimal background noise
